Dr. Karen Loops, Psy.D. Associate Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Karen Loops is a licensed clinical and school psychologist.  Dr. Loops has joined Mindful Consulting Group as an associate clinical psychologist specializing in testing. Though her work in psychology began with school psychology, Dr. Loops has worked mainly in neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations in various settings with various populations.

Dr. Loops earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from St. Lawrence University. She then earned a Psy.D. in School/Clinical Child Psychology from Pace University, where she also completed an M.S.Ed. in School Psychology.  She received clinical training in the White Plains School District, the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.  Dr. Loops completed her doctoral dissertation in 2004 on the effects of temporal or frontal lobe resection on verbal learning in children.

Prior to completing her doctorate, Dr. Loops worked as a school psychologist at the Cooke Center for Learning and Development, where she administered psychoeducational evaluations to at-risk preschoolers, including children with ASD/PDD, mood and/or behavioral difficulties, and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., fragile X syndrome).  She also conducted play therapy and behavioral therapy, and consulted with parents and preschool teachers.  In her postdoctoral training and subsequent clinical work, Dr. Loops has extensive experience in neuropsychological evaluation of adults and children with ADHD, neurological disorders (e.g., brain injury, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, sleep disorders), mood/bipolar disorders, and memory impairment. In addition to her work as a school and clinical psychologist, Dr. Loops gained teaching experience as an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor of Psychological Assessment in Long Island University. In her independent clinical practice, Dr. Loops works primarily with college and graduate students presenting with learning, attention, and/or mood difficulties.
